Drone inspection of roofs, facades and seams

In this case study, we explore how we did a full property inspection of roofs, facades and seams.

Key points from the case:

The property owners’ association Solsiden had problems with water ingress in some of the apartments
With the drone, we were able to fly close to the roof, facades and window seams and find the problem
The homeowners’ association saved time and money over having a mason with a lift out for inspection

About the case:

Background

The property owners’ association Solsiden in Juelsminde consists of three large properties with apartments located on the waterfront. The association faced challenges with water ingress in several apartments during rainy weather. To find the source of the problem and identify any weaknesses in the buildings, they chose to contact Drone Eksperten. They wanted a professional and cost-effective way to inspect facades, window joints and roofs.

The challenge

The Solsiden property owners’ association did not have the necessary expertise, equipment or experience to carry out a thorough and accurate inspection of the buildings themselves. By turning to Drone Eksperten, they gained access to specialized knowledge and modern drone technology that enabled a safe and efficient inspection.

The solution

Drone Eksperten recommended a detailed drone inspection of all three buildings’ facades, window joints and roofs. The solution made it possible to collect a comprehensive amount of data in the form of video and images that could be used to identify problems and suggest appropriate solutions. The drone technology made it possible to get close to the affected areas without having to set up scaffolding or expose personnel to unnecessary risk. This resulted in a faster, more cost-effective and accurate method of inspection and problem solving.

The result

After the drone inspection, it was possible to identify the specific areas where water ingress was an issue. It turned out that the joints at the windows of the upper apartments in all buildings were weakened, which was the cause of the water ingress. See below pictures of examples where joints have come loose:

With this information, the property owners’ association Solsiden could make informed decisions about necessary repairs and maintenance.

Drone Eksperten’s solution made it easier for the association to find and fix the problem as they didn’t have to guess or spend resources on examining the entire building manually. In addition, the drone inspection was a cheaper solution as there was no need for scaffolding or extra staff. This resulted in a more efficient inspection that quickly led to a solution and prevented further damage to the properties.

In summary, the property owners’ association Solsiden went from having an acute problem with water ingress to finding an efficient and cost-effective solution through drone inspection. By turning to Drone Eksperten, they gained access to the necessary expertise and technology to identify and solve the problem quickly and safely.

Thanks to Drone Eksperten’s advice and inspection, the property owners’ association Solsiden now have a better understanding of the condition of their buildings and can make informed decisions about future maintenance. This will ultimately help to extend the life of the buildings and ensure a higher quality of life for the residents.

This case study shows how Drone Eksperten is able to help customers find efficient, safe and cost-effective solutions to building-related problems using modern drone technology and expertise.
