Chimney inspection with drone
Drone Eksperten performs chimney inspections with our specially developed drones. Both inside and outside.

Inspection of chimneys with drones
We specialize in flying drones inside chimneys and delivering inspection reports. Our interior inspection drone is 48 cm wide and 38 cm high, and equipped with a safety grid that allows it to hit the sides without crashing.

Always the right solution
Chimney inspection performed with a drone
We fly through chimneys for inspection and overhaul for a wide range of customers. If you have an industrial chimney or a chimney at a CHP plant, it might be a good idea to have it checked a few times.
When we have been out inspecting a chimney with a drone in a chimney that has never been inspected before, we often find minor damage or other incidents that the customer should act on. These findings allow the facility owner to prevent major damage and shutdowns – making the chimney inspection super valuable for many people.
It also happens that we sometimes inspect a chimney without finding anything. This is not necessarily a waste of money and time to have the inspection carried out, as it makes a good mess during future operation – and then you can choose to have the chimney checked again after 5 years.
Always the right solution
How we inspect chimneys with drones
When inspecting a chimney with our drones, planning is important. There should be an entrance channel or hatch at the bottom of the chimney that we can fly into the chimney through. We can’t fly into the chimney from the top as our drone with the safety grid is very sensitive to wind due to the grid.
Once inside the chimney, we fly up and down a few times and capture it from all angles. At the same time as we record it, we have a LiDAR laser scanner on the drone that creates a live 3D model while we fly. This way we know exactly where the damage or incidents we find are located in the chimney. Want to measure the thickness of a chimney with a metal core as well? We can also do this with our ultrasonic device for the drone.
We then deliver an inspection report with a 3D model in our cloud version of our interactive inspection software.

Thinking about getting a drone flight in a chimney?
If you are considering having a drone flight in a chimney, we are happy to have a non-committal chat with you about the possibilities and agree on the desired output.
During such a talk, we first of all go through the reason for your considerations – and then we go on to look into the possibilities of sending our drone up through your chimney.
Once this is in place, we can tailor an offer to suit your needs and wishes.
Frequently asked questions
Why should we have our chimney inspected by drone?
Drone inspection of chimneys allows for early detection of damage and wear and tear, which can prevent costly repairs and unplanned shutdowns. Even if no damage is found, an inspection provides peace of mind and allows for long-term maintenance planning.
How does a chimney inspection with a drone work?
We fly our specially designed drone into the chimney through an inspection hatch at the bottom. The drone records video and uses a LiDAR scanner to build a live 3D model so we can accurately locate any damage.
Can you fly the drone down the chimney from the top?
No, our drone is equipped with a safety grid, which makes it wind sensitive. Therefore, we always fly up through the chimney from an inspection hatch at the bottom.
But we can inspect the chimney from the outside with drones that are designed to fly outside, without a safety grid.
What types of damage can a drone inspection reveal?
We can detect cracks, flaking, corrosion and other structural weaknesses in the chimney. If the chimney has a metal liner, we can also perform thickness measurement with our ultrasonic device.
What report do we receive after the inspection?
After the inspection, we provide an interactive report in our cloud-based system. The report includes a 3D model of the chimney and video footage so you can easily identify and document damage.
How can we get a no-obligation assessment of our chimney?
We offer a free initial consultation where we review your needs and assess whether a drone inspection is relevant for you. We can then tailor a quote based on your wishes and requirements.
